At its core, paintball is a team game that involves marking other players with gelatin capsules filled with colored dye shot from a gun powered by compressed gas. The game can be played in a variety of ways, from casual walk-on games to highly structured tournament style games that feature a lot of team tactics and strategy.
The marker is a small gun which holds a compressed tank of carbon dioxide or air that is regulated for safe use. The marker is loaded by pushing a cylinder down over a fill port until the breech seal engages, then pulling the trigger. This pull briefly opens a valve, allowing a short burst of gas to expand through the cupeal and onto the paintball. The paintball is propelled from the barrel at high speed, leaving behind a mark or “splatter” on the player or the equipment on their person. A player is considered hit when the splatter leaves a solid mark of a specific minimum size (often nickel or quarter-sized) on the body.
Whether you are playing on a professionally constructed field or on the streets, if you play paintball with recklessness and disregard for safe game practices, you risk injury and potentially endangering other players. Xtreme Park Adventures promotes an environment where safety is paramount, and we require all participants to read and understand the rules of the game before each session.
The game’s adrenaline rush and competitive spirit can bring out the best in people, especially for those that are naturally prone to a little bit of goofy behavior. The sense of accomplishment that comes from a victory, as well as the sometimes hilarious agonies of defeat can build self-confidence and teamwork.
