Paintball Basics

Paintball is a team sport that involves shooting with a marker that fires spherical, dye-filled gelatin capsules called paintballs that break upon impact. Players are eliminated from a game if they are marked by a paintball.

Safety is a major concern in the sport, and referees on the field enforce safety rules and play rules. No physical contact is permitted in the game, and players are ejected from games or the play site if they violate these rules.

The best way to improve your paintball skills is to practice with your gun and learn how to use it properly. Spend time with your gun before you go out on the field, and make sure you know how to reload it and move with it safely.

You can practice your aim with a target nearby, and you should be able to shoot with your gun at least once or twice before the game starts. If you have any questions about how to use your gun, call a field coordinator and they will be happy to help.

Your goal in a paintball game should be to capture the opponent’s flag and return it to your home base, which is also called “flag station.” This is done by capturing enemy positions and keeping them from advancing toward you.

A good strategy for the game is to distribute your team’s players between bunkers, assigning defenders who will stay back and cover attackers. This strategy is harder as more firing lanes become occupied by the opposing team, so it’s important to keep track of where each player is and what they are doing.
