How to Play Paintball

Paintball is a sport in which players of two teams eliminate opponents by shooting them with capsules filled with non-toxic, biodegradable water-soluble dye and featuring a gelatin outer shell that breaks upon impact. It is played on outdoor and indoor playing fields of varying sizes. It is also regularly played at a formal sporting level, with organized competition that features professional teams and players.

To play, all players must be padded up and wear protective gear including helmets, masks, chest protectors, and knee pads. Players may use their own equipment, or rent the necessary items at most paintball facilities. The cost of the rental includes a marker (gun), air for the tank, and 200 paintballs. Additional paintballs can be purchased at the facility or from most sporting goods stores.

Before starting to play, it is recommended that players warm up and practice with the gun. This can be done by shooting at stationary targets or a friend who is also wearing the proper safety gear. This will help to improve the aim and accuracy of the marker.

During the game, players should communicate with their teammates. This is essential to winning the game, and will help to prevent players from getting slashed by stray shots from other teams. Additionally, it is important to conserve the amount of ammo that is fired. Typically, it is best to only shoot when there is a clear target and the player is close enough to actually hit them.
